Agricultural Development Corporation is a Government Parastatal which was established in 1965 through an act of parliament to facilitate Land transfer from European settlers to locals following the country’s independence. It was also to be a stabilizing factor to assist in maintaining good quality livestock and continuity of the breeding programs in select farms.
Agricultural Development Corporation is the major seed maize grower in the country. The corporation produces over 10 million clean seed maize annually. The Corporation plays varied roles in the development of agriculture in Kenya. As a provider of quality seed to the Kenyan farmer, it is the main seed maize grower in Kenya which is made possible through its large land area in Trans-Nzoia and Nakuru country.
The basic seed obtained from the Kenya Seed Company and other organizations is multiplied and passed back to the seed companies for processing. In facilitating the multiplication of seed, the Corporation plays the role of availing sufficient quantities and good quality seed to the Kenyan farmer. In so doing, it contributes towards poverty reduction efforts and to the national food security
ADC SEED KH600-23A
This is a top cross maize hybrid, processed and marketed by ADC through retail and wholesale channels. The product is a white semi flint maize and takes 5 months to maturity . The seed is fully certified by Kenya plant health inspectorate service (KEPHIS)
The 6 series product is available in bags of 2kgs, 5kgs, 10kgs, and 25kgs.
Animal Feeds
We produce high quality animal feeds at the ADC feedmill in Kitale for in house consumption in our farms and for sale to the farmer.
Technologies
ADC plays a critical role in the transfer of technology from research institutions to the Kenyan farmer. Through linkages with agricultural institutions, the corporation has been a testing ground for technologies and research with findings being passed to the farmer .ADC also facilitates the training of farmers through field days ,agricultural shows and training of students through attachment that provides hands on experience. ADC also has dedicated courses on artificial insemination and Business skills training.
Livestock Genetics centre
At the ADC livestock genetics center, farmers are offered genetic diversity for locally produced semen which will see farmers breed better adopted animals. The center along with other stakeholders work at increasing the efficiency of A.I service delivery so that farmers can have better value for money.

Citrus fruits
We produce high quality citrus at ADC Suam Orchards in Kitale.We not only sell the fruits but also the grafted seedlings.
Citrus is an important fruit crop in Kenya and ranks fourth after bananas, pineapples and mangoes.[MOA,2007].About 10000 hectares are planted with sweet orange, Lemons, and Grapefruits that produce a total of 87000 metric tons valued at Ksh 1.7 billion[MOA,2008].
The highest production is in the Coast ,Eastern, and Rift valley provinces. However, production does not met the local demand [MOA, 2003] necessitating importation of large qualities of citrus fruits and products. There is therefore scope for improving the production and quality of local Citrus.
Agricultural Development Corporation grows citrus mainly in Transnzoia district at ADC Suam Orchards. The Unit consists of some 725.6 Hectares (1,793 acres).Approximately 67.8 hectares of this has citrus fruits under an efficient gravity irrigation. Citrus includes different varieties of oranges, lemons and lime.
ADC Suam Orchards has embarked on citrus fruit quality improvement to match improve on the final quality and beat the competition from imported ones through pre-harvest treatment.
ADC Suam orchard is a major source of citrus fruit seedlings to the Kenyan farmer.ADC sells over 2, 500 tones of high quality citrus annually

Boran Breed
The boran breed is a bee breed with its genetic background being Kenya. The Boran is predominantly Zebu. ADC is the custodian of the Boran Stud in Kenya and by so doing ensures continuous availability of Boran breeding animals to the Kenya farmer

This is an exotic breed with its roots in France. They are raised for their beef and are known for their composite qualities when crossed with other breed
Hereford Breed
It’s an exotic breed with its roots in England. Hereford cattle can gain weight up to 1,000 kgs when mature
Santa Getrudes
Is a beef breed with its origin in Spain.
The Santa has a distinctive red colour and an exceptionally deep and well muscled body.
It’s believed to have been a Cross of the Brahman breed and short horn Hereford cattle
Sahiwal Breed
This breed is hardy and can survive well in arid and semi arid areas.

Potato seed
The corporation also plays a major role in potato seed multiplication. The potato has been identified as the most suitable in diversifying feeding habits and overreliance on Ugali as a staple food .The corporation has also introduced bean seed in to the market ;KK-ROSECOCO 194 and ADC MALKIA :KK RED BEAN 16. The two varieties are suitable for medium to high altitude and are tolerant to Anthracnose Rust and common bacterial blight.
